Health

Aim:

To enhance and accelerate access to holistic, easily accessible and acceptable health services and life-saving prevention, treatment, care and support services to socio economically disadvantaged people living in resource-constrained settings

Our actions:

- Access to HIV/AIDS testing and treatments: we facilitate access to HIV counseling and testing as prevention approach as well as promoting early access to the life saving treatment by actively liking identified HIV positive patients into care and organize workshops to empower grassroots people to transform the conditions that have perpetuated HIV/AIDS

- Access to TB testing and treatments: we increase TB case notification, case detection and treatment outcomes through health system strengthening, with the aim of ending the TB epidemic in Uganda

- Maternal and childhood health promotion: we support maternal and child health by empowering women to have a voice in decision-making and gain awareness about the importance of prenatal and postnatal care

- Hygiene and menstrual health promotion: we popularize young girls on the changes they are experiencing within their bodies and provide general menstrual education and training on how to maintain proper hygiene throughout their cycle. We help set them up for a life where menstruation is no longer an obstacle

- Reproductive health promotion and condoms distribution: we empower women, and especially female youth to take control of their sexual and reproductive health with dialogues and distribution of female and male condoms

Our results in 2018:

- Over 100 000 community members reached with dialogues on reproductive health

- Over 50 000 people reached with behavioral change communication messages (HIV, ART, EMTCT)

- 98% of newborns to HIV+ mothers in the project are HIV free, with over 200 mothers counseled and enrolled on ARV treatment

- 692 children under 5 reached with nutrition programs

- 200 000 people counseled and tested for HIV, with over 20 000 newly HIV positive clients linked to life-saving care and treatment
